Advocacy

The Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) is constantly working to improve the lives of patients with musculoskeletal oncology conditions and support the surgeons who care for them. Together, we are working to strengthen the future of musculoskeletal cancer care through informed policy and passionate advocacy.

MSTS has joined the Advisor’s Circle of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons Orthopaedic Political Action Committee (OrthoPAC) which allows us to maximize political opportunities on issues of importance to our society members and our sarcoma patients.

MSTS establishes advocacy priorities on an annual basis. These priorities are updated as needed to reflect emerging issues. Click here to learn more about our advocacy priorities.

Share Your Story: Help Strengthen Our Advocacy Efforts

Personal stories have the power to humanize the challenges our patients face and make a meaningful impact when shared with policymakers and healthcare leaders.   We invite patients, families, and physicians to share their story.  If you have specific examples of how the current healthcare system impacted your ability to receive or deliver high quality cancer care, please share those experiences with us. This could include access issues such as inability to see a sarcoma specialist in your geographic area, delays in care due to insurance authorization, difficulties in sharing information between treating teams, unexpected financial strain, or other. Your input will help us better advocate on your behalf.

Sign On Letters

MSTS actively collaborates with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and other like-minded organizations to advocate on behalf of patients with sarcoma and other musculoskeletal tumors.  By joining sign-on letters, we amplify our collective voice to key decision-makers in Congress and within federal healthcare agencies.  These letters highlight our shared priorities.  View recent sign-on letters below:
